"Thank you very much Pepsi, for reminding me, I own my shelf space and I can do anything I want" John Nese

You really must check out the you tube video of  John Nese his passion and knowledge are contagious but most of a

ll I love the way he turns down the Pepsi rep for what he believes is the right thing to do.

Something about the impatience in his voice when he "immediately went out and found 25 brands of soda" gives a hint to the real level of anger he held at that moment. I wonder if he doubted himself somewhere between 25 and 250 different types of soda, when people were saying "what are you doing with all these old things?".

Big business and big brands is often all too much about imposing. Using rebates and contracts to squeeze the best position for the big guy. Sometimes somebody like John pushes back but mostly the big guys keep pushing.  Recently we encountered something quite different, Gildan (Probably the biggest, manufacturing 500 million garments in 2009) sent us an e-mail asking us to  spend £5000 of their money promoting the Ultra T-shirt. No strings, hoops or conditions.

Well we wanted to engage our big customers and introduce many smaller potential customers to Gildan, so what to do.....

Give away a case of  Gildan Ultra T-shirts, every week, for a year, that is 72 T-shirts a week or 3744 T-shirts in total. All we will be asking from you is for your e-mail address and name. Oh and if you win you will have to send us a photo :-)

We are really looking forward to seeing where The T's end up. Printed or Plain, with Clubs/teams/collages or added in to a print run for Lady Gaga's concert, re-labelled perhaps....

Dave "Bulldog" Beattie
Genesis Gym is down the road from our west London warehouse, a little like PAG the founder owner Dave Beattie is often there. Dave also is the world champion and world record holder at Squats. I'm not sure what size T-shirt would fit Dave but probably our Oversize T-shirts from anvil would be the ones to recommend.

Dave can squat 462.5 Kgs, that is about 33 boxes of T-shirts.

The gym is a really unique place. I doubt the internet revolution will effect Genesis the way it has PAG. Our old showroom in Acton used to have characters poping in all the time and we made enough margin to chat and offer a different level of service. Now to stay  competitive our customer have to put  their order on the computer for us. People want to self serv and receive the best price but behind the automation we have the best and most experienced staff in the industry. When the are stock shortages or Gildan sell out of a colour our sales tend to go up, as we work harder to fulfil orders than other distributors.

Where did your shirt come from?
The are a few of good Butchers in west London, it seems pretty cool when the butcher can tell you the farm your food came from or even the name of the animal.

Anvil's Cotton suppliers might just have to start thinking up names for their bails of cotton. What might they call their cotton? And can you think of a better place to send a bail than Anvil? What will it grow into? A T-shirt, Polo, hood or sweatshirt?

Keep your eyes on the soon to launch www.trackmyt.com/ and you might find out.

Delivered without flap
Why did your box of T-shirts get delivered with a flap missing??.... Well all our factory sealed cartons come with four flaps on the top, when we fill our shelves the front flap is cut just above the main body of the box. This means we can reach in and easily pull T-shirts Hoods or Polos.

The beauty of this is we can also re-use the boxes for your order of  T-shirts, Hoods or Polo shirts. Cutting the flap is a bit like removing your appendix. The is a cut but you function just as well without it.

We also use the spare flaps for stock checks or whatever else we need to note. The Gildan white boxes are particularly nice for writing on but we use Anvil, Hanes and Fruit all the time too.

Now I know some other distributors buy recycled cardboard but we rarely see the original manufacturers boxes. Where do they go?
